MASSTRUCT aims to establish a world class Biomolecular MS Research Unit of Excellence in the Biomedical Sciences Research Centre “Alexander Fleming”. Led by the ERA Chair, Dr Argyris Politis, and team will advance research in biomolecular MS and structural biology, invaluably improving our understanding of fundamental biological processes, and assisting the development of new drug discovery strategies.
MASSTRUCT will not only open new directions for collaborative research and innovation at BSRC Fleming, but it will also add value to recent EU investments in related disciplines more widely in Greece, and via a network of recently awarded ERA Chairs in Greece focused on complementary structural and chemical approaches. This will build the critical mass for enabling structural biology in Greece, which in turn will leverage downstream research and funding at the interface between chemistry and biology.
Establish a world-class Biomolecular MS Research Unit at BSRC “Alexander Fleming” under the leadership of ERA Chair Dr. Argyris Politis.
Advance research in biomolecular mass spectrometry and structural biology to deepen understanding of biological processes and support drug discovery.
Foster national and international collaboration, linking with ERA Chairs across Greece in complementary scientific fields.
Leverage and amplify recent EU investments to build structural biology capacity and drive innovation at the chemistry–biology interface.
Establishing a leading research unit at BSRC Fleming to advance biomolecular mass spectrometry and structural biology for biomedical innovation.
MASSTRUCT is funded by the “Widening Participation & Spreading Excellence” component of Horizon Europe Programme (ERA Chairs: HORIZON-WIDERA-2023-TALENTS-01), under Grant Agreement No. 101183630.
